Ease Neck & Shoulder Tension with Dr. Hoang's Chiropractic Clinic

August 04, 2026

A FAMILIAR KIND OF TENSION

If you spend your days hunched over a computer, a steering wheel, or a phone, that sore, achy feeling across your neck and shoulders undoubtedly feels like just part of living life today. The good news: two recent scientific reviews suggest real relief from that pain doesn't require a total complete overhaul — and it works even more successfully alongside the neck pain relieving care you're already receiving at Dr. Hoang's Chiropractic Clinic.

SMALL MOVEMENT BREAKS, REAL IMPACT

The first is a 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis looking at "micro-exercises" — brief, easy-to-do movement breaks built into the workday — for people with desk-bound jobs. (1) Instead of asking you to carve time for an extra hour for the gym, this line of research confirms the idea that a minute or two of gentle neck rolls, shoulder rolls, or posture resets, spread out across your workday, can noticeably reduce the neck and shoulder tension that builds up from hours in one position. It's a sign that showing up often often matter more than intensity when your pain is tied to posture and prolonged sitting.

THE ROLE OF MANUAL THERAPY

The second is a major 2025 Cochrane Review, one of the most rigorous types of research review, on manual therapy combined with exercise for neck pain. (2) Looking across the strongest available trials, the reviewers found that a combination of manual therapy with exercise may show a moderate increase in function, but little or no reduction in neck pain when compared against a placebo (sham) treatment. In other words: hands-on care alongside active exercise tends to help you move and function better, even when pain scores alone only capture part of the story.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Put those two findings together, and a clear picture emerges: your adjustments and manual therapy do genuine work for function and mobility, and pairing that with short, regular movement breaks during the day can help keep the tension from building back up between visits. Neither piece replaces the other — they complement each other.
